Submitting samples for disease diagnosis Print E-mail
Plant Protection Knowledge

Prerequisites

You need only to have a disease problem to access this service, but at this time the service is only available to local farmers

Steps to access service

The most important step tocontrolling a plant disease is first to identify what is causing the disease. Unless the disease organism is accurately identified a control method cannot be suggested. Also some plants may simply be exhibiting symptoms of a nutrient deficiency, since the symptoms are similar to those of some diseases.

  1. Submit a sample of the plant exhibiting the disease (see guide to submitting samples for disease identification)
  2. Complete a sample submission form or attach a note outlining general symptoms of the plant
  3. Deliver the sample to the Plant Pathology lab at Graeme Hall
  4. Make sure to include ALL contact information

Outcome

The outcome of the investigation is dependant on the condition of the plants or samples submitted. The client will be contacted with the diagnosis as well as any recommended chemical or other treatments as necessary.

Please feel free to call and enquire about results if necessary. If the sample cannot be used or further investigation is necessary then a site visit can be arranged.
