Transit Animals E-mail

All persons intending to transit live animals through Barbados to other territories must receive permission to do so from the Senior Veterinary Officer.  This is necessary even if the animal remains on board the aircraft or ship for the duration of the stay.

*Please note that a copy of the import permit issued by the importing (destination) country will be required before the transit application is processed.

Import Meat, Dairy or Animal Products E-mail

AN IMPORT PERMIT IS REQUIRED FOR THE IMPORTATION OF ALL MEAT AND ANIMAL PRODUCTS INTO BARBADOS.

The type of product that can be imported in personal luggage and the country from which it can be imported depends upon a number of factors - including the presence of certain dangerous human and animal diseases in the country of origin and the sanitary conditions under which the product is manufactured.The countries from which imports are permitted are subject to change at short notice, depending on their animal disease status.

Import Live Animals E-mail

All animals and birds being brought into Barbados must have an Import permit. The permit is accompanied by health conditions which the source country must meet. These conditions are subject to change at short notice as the country’s disease status changes.

Please note that the listed conditions are guides only and will not be valid until they are stamped and signed by the veterinary authority.
